Anatomical Body Sculpt

This project started as a sculpting exercise too. I had to model an anatomically correct human made body, trying to stay as close to an “ideal” physique as possible. I learned a lot about human anatomy from this experience, understood how hard it is to get a body part to look exactly right. I chose not to texture the body as human skin, but rather looking like ancient Greek bronze statues, or better yet, bronze copies of the statues. Sculpted in ZBrush, textured and rendered in Substance Painter.

Modelling a t-shirt or any kind of conventional clothes didn’t feel right for this piece, so I went with adapting a BDSM harness from an internet meme, trying to make it look like a piece of armor or some sort of fantasy warrior wear.

The Process

The sculpting process was tough, a lot felt wrong and I am glad I got so much help from my instructor. Before I settled on the bronze look, I tried going with a chiseled stone or a clay statue variant, or maybe polished marble. The buckles and spikes also went through a series of changes. Finally I was happy with the IMM brush pack in ZBrush, with minor modifications.
