Found forms - Artifacts

This is the second part of an art-project completed together with my dad. We wanted to incorporate elements of his drawings and prints into a new medium, one where they would carry an extra layer of meaning. For reference and inspiration we looked at hundreds of bronze age artifacts, specifically searching for interesting shapes and objects who’s application is unclear or unknown.

In these objects, trees and birds from the previous set of finds live on. We like to imagine that these things, including this bird, may have come from some as-yet-unidentified society. It is impossible to ascertain the artifacts' original purpose because so few of them exist. Made with ZBrush, Maya and Substance Painter.

Each object having a hole suggests that it had a purpose or perhaps sacred meaning to the society that created them.

Settling on the right shape was an new challenge. Without an actual existing prototype to reference it was a process of trial and error. The goal was to deliver a shape that would be coherent with the drawings that we planned to place on them.
